Abstract

With the continuous expansion of urban rail transit systems, operational energy consumption has become a major barrier to the industry's sustainable development. To address this issue, this study proposes a coordinated optimization model that integrates train timetable design with energy storage device management, aiming to minimize system-wide energy consumption by maximizing the utilization of regenerative braking energy. The model adopts a hybrid energy management strategy that combines both instant and delayed utilization, enabling more effective recovery and redistribution of braking energy. By jointly optimizing train schedules and storage device operations under various operational scenarios, the proposed approach fully leverages system flexibility to enhance energy efficiency. Numerical experiments demonstrate that this coordinated strategy significantly improves energy recovery and utilization. Besides, further case studies are conducted to analyze the impact of different numbers of scenarios and trips on the results.
