Abstract

This paper focuses on platoon control under the framework of model predictive control (MPC), where a dynamic event-triggered strategy (DETS) is employed to govern the information exchange and a collision avoidance constraint is considered to guarantee the safety of automated vehicles. First, the tracking, platoon, smoothness and control input costs are systematically taken into account to reflect the comprehensive performance and a relaxed constraint about collision avoidance is proposed to handle the challenge of distributed calculation. In light of the constructed cost and the relaxed constraint, a DETS-based distributed MPC algorithm is provided to acquire the desired control sequence. Through theoretical analysis, a sufficient condition is received to guarantee the collision-avoidable platoon performance under the proposed MPC algorithm. Finally, the effectiveness of the designed control scheme is verified by simulation examples.
