Abstract

As urban transit faces increasing complexities, there is a pressing need for high-resolution data to understand the nuances of transit usage and its environmental impacts. The existing research often lacks the granularity required for precise analysis at trajectory level. TransitSim 4.0 addresses this gap and generate second-by-second trajectory data that enhances the analysis of environmental exposures and travel behaviors across various demographic groups. The system integrates a comprehensive suite of modular tools tailored for a range of analytical needs, from strategic planning to operational assessment. Two case studies exemplify the model’s application: assessing transit riders' comfort under extreme heat and evaluating accessibility in urban food deserts. These applications highlight the model’s potential to inform sustainable and equitable transit solutions, ultimately contributing to more resilient urban transit systems.
